Ice Safety

Brighton Firefighters go through ice rescue training at least once a year at Barr Lake State Park. Crews do this type of training to stay prepared in the event of an ice rescue. Firefighters wear buoyant cold water rescue suits when in the water. The suits keep firefighters warm & dry, and help them float.

Remember- You can prevent tragedy by staying off the ice. Always keep pets on a leash so they can't wander onto a frozen lake or pond. If you see a person or pet fall through the ice, DO NOT go in to help them. Call 911 immediately so that you don't become a victim.
